Tummy tuck or liposuction
Liposuction versus tummy tuck
Reaching your ideal and stable weight is definitely a good idea before undergoing any plastic surgery. Based on your pictures and your history of 3 children, I would recommend a tummy tuck to help improve abdominal contour. Liposuction can be combined with the surgical procedure, but liposuction alone will likely leave you with disappointing results. Make sure you have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. (Naveen Setty, MD, Dallas Plastic Surgeon)
Liposuction only removes excess fat. It does nothing for the extra skin which you seem to have. Therefore, you will need a tummy tuck for the best cosmetic improvement. (Robert T. Buchanan, MD, Highlands Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy Tuck vs. Liposuction What is Best Option?
I have reviewed your photographs and It seems as though you already have a slight over hang of you lower abdominal wall skin and with your anticipated weight loss this will worsen. Therefore liposuction alone may reduce the overall volume of soft tissue but it may well worsen the skin laxity and over hang that you currently have. My recommendation would be:
1. A tummy tuck
2. Liposuction of your waist.
I would hope that this more comprehensive approach would give you a more shapely and contoured result. (Joseph Rucker, MD, FACS, Eau Claire Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy Tuck vs liposuction
Generally speaking, in situations like yours where the skin is loose in the lower abdomen,I would recommend tummy tuck/abdominoplasty.You would likely receive minimal bang for your buck with liposuction alone. The best option is a combination of liposuction with abdominoplasty/tummy tuckMake sure you see a board – certified plastic surgeon who is experienced in combining the two procedures. (Samer W. Cabbabe, MD, FACS, Saint Louis Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy tuck or liposuction is best option to remove loose skin
Liposuction will remove fat but will not tighten the loose skin. A tummy tuck is a much better option for you. It is important to get as close as possible to your ideal weight. Any fat that is left below the skin presents your surgeon from tightening the tummy as much as possible.
Once again congratulations on your weight loss and on planning to lose even more weight prior to your plastic surgery consult. You should have an excellent result. Be sure to consult a plastic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, experienced in tummy tuck surgery and has an excellent reputation in your community. (Brooke R. Seckel, MD, FACS, Boston Plastic Surgeon)
Can I get satisfactory results from liposuction?
Losing weight will always help you to get a better outcome after surgery. Your BMI is ~ 25. Losing those pounds will make you ideal for the procedure. You have a skin overhang with stretch marks below your navel.
In my opinion, you will be a good candidate for a tummy tuck with liposuction to your hips and flanks. Liposuction alone, may not help you accomplish your goal. (Maan Kattash, MD, FRCS, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
You need a tummy tuck to remove the extra skin and tighten the muscles. Yes, there is a scar but it is what will make you look good. Now with good scar products or laser the scar is not bad the tummy results are well worth it for most ladies. (Gregory Lynam, MD, Richmond Plastic Surgeon)
A full tummy tuck will remove skin and fatty tissue, and allow stretched muscles from prior pregnancies to be tightened. Liposuction will only remove fatty tissue. Lose the weight before considering surgery. Based upon your history and pictures, an abdominoplasty will likely be the recommendation from a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area. (Joseph D. Alkon, MD, Newark Plastic Surgeon)
Liposuction alone will NOT give you satisfactory results
Your question is very common. Everybody would like to get liposuction only to avoid the scars of a tummy tuck. However liposuction alone will only remove fat, and leave behind loose skin. Do not get fooled by promises of fancy liposuctions that cause skin tightening. If they really worked tummy tucks would not be performed. Fact is, you need to remove fat AND skin to get a satisfactory results. (Martin Jugenburg, MD, Toronto Plastic Surgeon)
I would suggest you lose the weight you are going to lose or the majority of it and go for a consultation. I believe you will not see the results you want with liposuction alone. You are a candidate for a tummy tuck. I would recommend you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who performs the procedure regularly. (Rick Rosen, MD, Norwalk Plastic Surgeon)
Do I have to get a tummy tuck/abdominoplasty or can I get satisfactory results from liposuction?
Based on your photos, liposuction will not give you the result you are looking for. You are a candidate for a full tummy tuck with muscle repair. Consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) for an exam to discuss your concerns and expectations. (Robert E. Zaworski, MD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)
Base on the photograph you provided you are a perfect candidate for a full tummy tuck muscle repair and liposuction. A liposuction is not going to gave you the satisfaction you are looking. Look for a Board Certified Plastic surgeon. (Mel T. Ortega, MD, Miami Plastic Surgeon)
Liposuction in the post pregnancy tummy
You need a full tummy tuck to get rid of excess skin, reposition your belly button, repair your muscles, and rid you rof excess fat. Then you can wear a bikini. Liposuction will debulk you. Do you want and will you be happy with debulking? You will not wear a bikini afeter debulking but you will be more reduced in size. (George Commons, MD, Palo Alto Plastic Surgeon)
It is apparent thet you will need a full TT plus liposuction to get the best result. The mini TT would be a waste of your time and money. (Ronald V. DeMars, MD, Portland Plastic Surgeon)A tummy tuck with liposuction of the sides would produce a very nice result for you. Based on the picture you sent, it definitely appears that you need a tummy tuck (e.g abdominoplasty) instead of liposuction. The extra skin would be made worst with just liposuction alone. You may benefit from an additional of liposuction of your flanks at the same time as the tummy tuck. You should discuss all of this with your plastic surgeon, including the difference between a full and mini abdominoplasty. (Khashayar Mohebali, MD, Corte Madera Plastic Surgeon)
I am afraid you need a standard tummy tuck with liposuction. You should get a dramatic improvement.Liposuction alone will make things worse by loosening the skin. A mini-tuck will only tighten the lower tummy and remove a very little skin.you will be terribly disappointed.Be sure to consult a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. (Elizabeth Morgan, MD, PhD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)You have skin excess, and the only way to treat that is by removing the excess. you are a candidate for a Full Tummy Tuck probably with muscle plication. The mini TT differs to a Full TT in the length of the incision and usually only a little portion of the skin is excised (below your umbilicus) leaving your umbilicus attached. This wont help you.I, like a few other colleagues offer online consultations where you send us your photos and we can estimate the cost. Find a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and discuss what will be the proper treatment to achieve the result you desires. (Luis Redondo, MD, Dominican Republic Plastic Surgeon)
Based on this one photo alone, I would recommend a tummy tuck instead of liposuction. The loose skin and stretch marks suggest the skin has diminished elasticity and will not respond very well to liposuction. Also, liposuction will not tighten your abdominal wall the way a tummy tuck will. A regular tummy tuck will remove more skin than a mini- tummy tuck. You should definitely consult with a few plastic surgeons for a more detailed exam in person to be sure of your options. (William Bruno, MD, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon)Liposuction or a tummy tuck?
It appears you are a much better candidate for a tummy tuck and not liposuction. That loose skin will not improve without skin removal. a mini-tummy tuck is usually to remove skin of the lower belly. Based on your picture (examination would tell me so much more), I would not recommend a mini tuck.
Tummy tuck surgery is very safe when you choose an experienced, board-certified surgeon. It is a dramatic change that should last your lifetime unless you become pregnant again or gain significant weight. In 28 years, no one has been disappointed with their results in my office. (Robert J. Spies, MD, Paradise Valley Plastic Surgeon)
