This is due to the fact that expanded skin and subcutaneous tissue are not able to be reduced and strengthening exercises for the abdominals – improve the shape and muscle tone, but not the skin. I am sure they just think I am being vain. But it’s not about vanity. It’s more about sanity. I had abdo hysterectomy 2 yrs ago and I have a flap of flesh that overlaps the scar. It keeps getting sore. It gets in the way and I can only wear huge panties as the bikini style ones I used to wear get trapped under the skin flap. I have put weight on since then and it’s not a “quick fix” as I have to lose it first before my ps will do it anyway.

  13. Donna says:

Alyson I have a few that think that too. But I also have close friends that think if it will make me feel better about myself then I should go for it ! As u say lot getting it done to be vain but to help my mental state of mind. Everyone has different opinions & if u feel it’s the right choice for u then go for it! I am

  14. Lisa says:

Is it very bad to smoke when u have a tummy tuck I have had one but want to smoke and the wound as opened up once with a infection

  15. Erin says:

It is not good. Smoking slows down your circulation and constricts blood vessels it could make h3aling longer

  16. Lisa says:

If I cut down would that be ok or should I stop

  17. Anthony says:

Surely if if have researched this procedure properly u would now not to smoke.

  18. Lisa says:

    I have but it’s hard

  19. Erin says:

I am not a Dr I would ask your Dr to make sure but I know it is not good for wounds. Even slowing doen is better than smoking a lot

  20. Erin says:

It is hard I smoked for years. Stoped cold turkey with both pregnancies. I use a vapor instead of smoking

  21. Lisa says:

I have to go cold turkey there said

  22. Erin says:

For your health and good results I would

  23. Tara says:

I quit cold turkey 78 days ago today because I knew I was having this surgery on May 8th. Dr wouldn’t do surgery if I didn’t quit. I smoked a pack a day its hard but you can do it.
a day for 10 years. No nicotine. No vapor. The doctor said its the nicotine that slows the healing not just the “smoking”

  24. Kim says:

Mind set—-you must change to think that ur body is worthy to be healthy…I am sure it will thank you.
