Tummy tuck time off work
Time off Work post Body Contouring
Each surgeon has his or her own guidelines for postoperative care. Patients generally can return to light activity 7 to 10 post surgery. More strenuous activity can generally begin 2 to 6 months post surgery.
Consult your surgeon has he or she understands the scope of the surgery and the specifics about you. (Kris M. Reddy, MD, FACS, West Palm Beach Plastic Surgeon)
Is One Week Enough Time To Heal Following Tummy Tuck?
I think most surgeons would prefer to have their tummy tuck patients take two full weeks off.
Having children puts additional strain on your ability to rest up and heal from a big procedure such as abdominoplasty. The liposuction may leave you feeling pretty sore and bruised, adding to your discomfort and ability to get around well.
While some patients who have desk jobs are able to get back to work, there are increased risks for complications such as bleeding and would healing.
I would discuss this with your surgeon so that he/she is aware of your plans to return to work. (Robert N. Young, MD, FACS, San Antonio Plastic Surgeon)
Time off work with tummy tuck
The answer depends on a number of factors, including whether you need muscle work done and what kind of work you do. If you do office work, but have your muscles tightened, the timing will be close. (Ronald J. Edelson, MD, San Diego Plastic Surgeon)
It will largely depend on how extensive the procedure is and also the type of work you do. You are still likely to be tired and sore after a week, which will only be exacerbated by work. Certainly most surgeons would advocate taking things quietly for at least two weeks and then easing your way back to full activities. Dont underestimate the importance of the recovery period, it can have an important influence on your final result (Richard Bloom, MBBS, FRACS, Melbourne Plastic Surgeon)
Time off work after tummy tuck
I would be surprised if one week is enough. Don’t underestimate your need to rest and heal. By one week patients are starting to get reasonably comfortable but post op fatigue is still a big factor. I think it wouold be better to plan a few extra days to get well. (Ronald V. DeMars, MD, Portland Plastic Surgeon)
