Tummy tuck without muscle tightening
Are you sure he is a board certified ps? Based on your photos you need muscle tightening and liposuction.
Get 2 more consultations with board certified ps’s and make sure you can see before and after photos. (Peter Fisher, MD, San Antonio Plastic Surgeon)
I agree with the other surgeons here that you are in definite need of muscle tightening.
Tightening up the abdominal muscles will give you the flattened tummy that you are wishing for.
You can also benefit from liposuction to the abdomen and sides.
Please get a second opinion from a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. (Jaime S. Schwartz, MD, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon)
You need muscle tightening. I suggest you see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon (Member of the Royal College of Plastic Surgeons). Without liposuction or muscle repair, all he appears to plan is to remove the excess lower tummy skin. Do not have this surgeon do your surgery. You will be very disappointed. Here’s hoping you find this helpful. (Elizabeth Morgan, MD, PhD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)
I would definitely recommend that you seek out a second opinion regarding your planned tummy tuck. Based upon your photos, and your goals, muscle plication at the time of your tummy tuck would be very beneficial. Tightening up the abdominal muscles during a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) will give you a flatter abdomen with a nicer contour. Pregnancies and weight loss invariably leave women with laxity of the abdominal muscles, and muscle plication fixes that issue. (Joshua Cooper, MD, FACS, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
If this is your goal, seek a second opinion from a plastic surgeon. I’m not sure that a board certified plastic surgeon would tell you that you do not need muscle tightening. I’m sorry, I do not want to be insulting, but you look like you are pregnant now.
Your muscle tone might be fine, but your muscle fascia (the covering over the muscles) has been stretched and will not go back without suturing it together. You also will need liposuction of the abdomen, back, waist and hips to give you the best result. Remember, this surgery is an investment in yourself, but if finances are the main reason going with this surgeon, I can say that you will look just like now with a long abdominal wall scar and minus the small pooch. See another surgeon for a second opinion. (George Marosan, MD, Bellevue Plastic Surgeon)
I agree that it seems like you would benefit from muscle tightening during your procedure. A second opinion before proceeding is wise. (Donald Griffin, MD, Nashville Plastic Surgeon)
Go seek other IN PERSON opinions. I believe you need muscle repair and maybe liposuction.
You said the magic word – pregnancy! The rotundness to your abdomen is a result of muscle laxity and a combination of intra-abdominal and extra-abdominal fat.
Weight loss will take care of the fat and a tummy tuck can help with the extra-abdominal fat (because some gets removed), but muscle tightening is the only thing to help with muscle laxity!! You will not be satisfied without it! (J. Garrett Harper, MD, Charlotte Plastic Surgeon)
From your photos with a very distended abdomen and a history of pregnancies, there is no way in my opinion that you could get your best and flattest result without muscle tightening. I’d suggest seeing someone for another opinion. (Richard P. Rand, MD, FACS, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
