Ugly belly button after tummy tuck

Belly Button after Tummy Tuck

It is too early for keloid at this stage of healing. As expected at this stage, there is still significant swelling and some bruising.

This will improve in due course. You should speak to your surgeon about scar management. (Jake Lim, MBBS, FRACS, Sydney Plastic Surgeon)

There is no keloid present. The irregularity should improve with time. (Kenneth B. Hughes, MD, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)

A lot of swelling No keloid Because the scar completely encircles the navel, drainage is impeded moreso that for the rest of the abdomen, and swelling lasts longer. Patience. (Jourdan Gottlieb, MD, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)

Belly Button can take a while to look normal

Since you just had the surgey done, it will take some time for everything to heal and look normal. Be sure to follow up with your surgeon for your best result. (Robert E. Zaworski, MD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)

Belly button can take a while to look normal

It looks like your umbilicus has swelling, but there is no obvious keloid formation. Without seeing your preoperative pic it is hard to comment. It usually takes 6-8 weeks for the swelling to subside and the belly button to look more normal.

The redness around the scar will persist for several months. Be careful to keep it out of the sun or it will remain red for a longer period. (M. Scott Haydon, MD, Austin Plastic Surgeon)
