Waterproof discs around my drains

I have a question. My doctor put waterproof discs around my drains and places that skin type tape like what you get over IV’s over the inserts so I could shower and keep infection risk down. Did anyone else have this done? If not, what did you have done and was it helpful or bad?

No waterproof disc or tape, been taking sponge bath , was able to wash my hair too. When are they going to removed the drains ?

  2. Amber says:

As soon as I put out less than 30ML fluid in 24hrs

I don’t think they’ll take them out tomorrow, but they really aren’t bothering me. Except that I would live to get dressed and go out in public… Not supposed to do that either for 3weeks after tummy tuck… BBL. Oh well. More tv shows for me

Me too can’t wait to do things around the house and this things are really bothering me a lot . Today I will stop my meds being so sleepy lately and need to walk more . Good luck . You look good

  5. Amber says:

Good luck to you too! Energy will come back and you’ll wish you could just sleep all day again

I was able to take a full shower after 24 hours po. My sponges around the drain had like this soap type stuff in them. If dr says it’s safe to shower then I’d go for it.

After the drains come out , can you start applying scar cream, I was given a small Marble to put in my belly button to form its shape. Any recommendations after the drains are taken off?? Thanks

  8. Amber says:

I was told I can start the scar cream as soon as they heal shut and no more scabs

mine didn’t have the wraps but that seems like a great idea. I had three drains after rummy tuck. the middle came out 7 days po tummy tuck and the remaining two at 14 days. less thAn 20 cc a day.

  10. Erika says:

dr started me on sunscreen SPF 30 or higher at 10 days po tummy tuck. 3x a day. my insicion is getting lighter and lighter everyday. today at 23 days I’m starting with the silicone strips at night and sunscreen during the day.

  11. Carolina says:

Hi Erika . Did you purchased the silicone strips elsewhere caused my doctor don’t sell them just the scar cream that was given at the doctors office.

  12. Erika says:

i dont know were you live..I bought mine at HEB grocery in Texas. I saw them at Target to. no the PS doesn’t sell them because he does scar treatments with laser. $$$ lol

  13. Lori says:

I was told absolutely no shower till after both drains were removed because chance of infection is way to high with drains …that was about 2 weeks…till less than 30 cc in 24 hours…

  14. Becky says:

Seems like a good idea. I had all drains out by day three after abdominoplasty so it was not an issue for me.

  15. Erika says:

I took shower day 3 after tummy tuck

  16. Carolina says:

Thanks Erika, the HEB stores are in Texas I was in Mc Allen few years ago. I currently live in California. Hopefully the cream “bioCorneum ” SPF 30 that the doctor gave me works. Thank you ladies

  17. Torrie says:

Nope but my doc allowed me to shower as soon as I wanted but I had to have my back to the spray.

I love these plugs for several reasons. The infection chances are so much lower and then the tube is not rubbing the skin raw with movement. Less discomfort. I’ve never seen a P.S. do this in my 10 years. AWESOME

  19. Roni says:

I had no special tape or disks, however I showered daily from day one. No infection
