Did anyone on here loose weight with duromine before tummy tuck?
If so how long dud it take you to get to your goal weight before surgery to remove the excess?

Be careful with that stuff. I used it last year before a trip overseas and it put me in hospital

  2. Tracy says:

Never heard of it but wowsers Michelle that sounds scary!

  3. Michelle says:

I stripped 6kg in like 2.5 weeks. It’s a speed based tablet. My heart rate was out of control and I spent 2 days in hospital on monitors. They also can cause heaps of problems with your liver. Not to mention unless your eating really well heaps of protein and weight training it just eats away at and muscle u have. Most people gain weight back really quickly after coming off them.

  4. Sarah says:

Yes not to loose heals tho. Everyone is different on this. I had no side effects at all. 15 kgs in 3 months but docs say not to use any longer than 3 mths at a time

  5. Tracy says:

Holy cow it just sounds scary, but I’m always wary of any type of drug! Be careful and hope it works with no side effects for you

  6. Te says:

This stuff is a high risk for cardiac problems. Just as long as u have regular check ups with yr gp should be ok.. but it probably not the best thing to put yr body through before a massive surgery like tt….I took this stuff yrs ago n I still have heart palpatations 10 after…

  7. Te says:

    10 yrs after

  8. Nikole says:

Not a smart move before surgery or in general. Duromine are dangerous!

  9. Lauren says:

I started Duromine at 113 in October after my efforts were failing
I lost on average 8 kilos a month and with a 3 months break pre surgery in June I weighed 87.3

  10. Lilmiss says:

I had a nervous breakdown from duromine would recommend not taking it!

  11. Jade says:

I always had lost weight on duromine but always put the weight back on when I stopped them, and I couldn’t take the duromine for long as it gave me back side effects ( side effects starts about after 4 weeks on it) anxiety, was paranoid, heart palpitations, felt horrible…. I would never take it again

  12. Sally says:

Same Jade, I was a mega bitch ….

  13. Michelle says:

That was me too jade it nearly sent me crazy. The anxiety was out of control and I just couldn’t slow down

  14. Rita says:

Can someone please explain to me what duromine is and exactly how it works?

  15. Indi says:

I have been on duro for 3 mi ths . And I had no side effects at all . Please remember everyone is different . I lost 22kg in 12 weeks .

  16. Indi says:

Im not saying its perfect but im not saying its bad .

  17. Sarah says:

if it was that bad it would be banned

  18. Steph says:

I think as long as your GP is monitoring you regularly while on it you should be ok but just be careful

  19. Diane says:

I was on it only lost 10 kgs in 6 months no side effects what so ever. I have lost more with healthy eating. But at the moment losing again just started taking the lady shake only day 3 and not weighed in yet

  20. Maree says:

If duramine is just supressing the appetite and making you eat less, is it the same as a low cal diet?

  21. Jasmine says:

Its basically like lapbamd but no surgery. Your only eating less. Ive been on duromine before but stopped to have a baby and now im doing it again as my son is now 2 years old. But I had no problems on it and so far im still not. My starting weight was 124.8kgs on monday its now only friday & already im 120.2kgs. So im looking forward to seeing how I go on the next 3 months on it.

  22. Maree says:

Well done! Do you know roughly how many calories you would consume in a day? Ive been eating like i am on it! Only 1200 calories a day, sometimes around 700 cals. Basically starving myself!

  23. Lilmiss says:

    Its pretty much speed!

  24. Jasmine says:

Ive never counted my calories but I just eat smaller meals.

  25. Jasmine says:

It is speed based yes. Thats why its a prescription drug. just because its speed based doesn’t mean its bad for you if it was bad doctors wouldnt recommend it… demazin cold & flu tablets are speed based aswell.

  26. Jade says:

Lots of sites to read about duromine Rita

  27. Jasmine says:

    or ask a doctor

  28. Lilmiss says:

Doctors prescribe alot of things bad for you my mums dead because of shit doctors prescribed her! Sorry rant over

  29. Jasmine says:

    Everybody is differant.

  30. Lilmiss says:

    Do what ya want then

  31. Jasmine says:

Im obviously already on duromine and ive stated ive had no problems in the past.

  32. Michelle says:

When I was in hospital my specialist said he had treated 4 women in just over a month for liver failure from it. Yes some have bad side effects and some don’t. But there are so many other proper ways to lose weight if u want it gone for good. And starving yourself isn’t one of them either. In fact if u fill your body with lots of nutrient based foods u will actually lose weight really quickly. And exercise of course. But losing weight is 80% what u put in your mouth.

  33. Jade says:

That’s correct everyone’s different, just depends if you have side effects or not as I’ve said I cant take it because of the side effects but my best friend has no side effects at all and she stays on them for 3 to 6 months at a time…

  34. Lilmiss says:

I nearly lost my hubby and kids because of it I personally despise it because it messed with my head so bad! U asked a question I simply gave my opinion! And just because the doctors prescribe u something does not mean its good for u and does not mean its not dangerous! Yes everybody’s different but she asked the question and people are giving their opinion! And unless u have exhausted all ur options to try lose weight by being healthy and exercising u shouldn’t be turning to prescribed drugs! Jus saying!

  35. Jade says:

Totally agreed lilmiss I tried everything to lose weight for over 15 yrs I know how hard it can be, and yes duromine did not agree with me at all either, 3 years ago I had lapband surgery and totally changed my lifestyle, I am a calorie counter and a big exerciser, I’ve lost 76 kilos since then, I am now for the first time in my life in the normal bmi weight range.

  36. Jasmine says:

And I already have my only options left is duromine or surgery.

I asked if anyone used it to loose weight before having there tummy tuck.

  37. Michelle says:

Jasmine if u don’t mind me asking how much weight do u have to lose before your tummy tuck surgery?

  38. Lilmiss says:

Did you expect a yes or no answer? Coz we are just sharing our experience.

  39. Tracy says:

Ok guys this is obviously a contentious subject! Those giving their opinions are obviously doing so out of concern where they have had negative side effects or known of those that have! Jasmine I hope that you succeed and don’t have the negative side effects and I assume that since these are prescription your dr is keeping a close eye on you!

  40. Jasmine says:

I havnt been to speak to anyone about a tt yet ive just been doing research on it thats why I joinned the group to see everyones sucess and there progress with scars etc.

  41. Tracy says:

Do you have a time frame in mind Jasmine? Or are you planning on getting to your goal weight and then looking at consults?

  42. Michelle says:

No one is judging it’s truly is out of concern. I have previously lost over 30kg. 21 of those came off in 11 weeks. Kept it off for about 6 years now and a qualified gym instructor although not practicing. After a back injury early last yr I’ve gained 13kg am my TT is in 7 weeks from now. I have totally changed my eating habits and yes training hard but that’s because I know what results I get from it. My concern is most surgeons ask u how u maintain your weight after weight lose and not so sure they all would be willing to give a TT if the weight lose has been fel prescription medication. It’s a great alternative short term to reduce appetite and give u energy but Theron aim is to learn a eating and exercise habit in the meantime. I know it’s hard but if u want any advice or support with diet and exercise just message me jasmine

  43. Jasmine says:

Thankyou Tracy, yes he is. His been my doctor since i was 10 so he knows all my history & he sugested trying it again because I have never side effects the last time I was on it and I had lost 20kgs the last time I was on it. And he was happy with my results.

  44. Jasmine says:

Yes I want to be at my goal weight before I get a tt.

  45. Jasmine says:

Michelle my doctor has told me the reason why people relapse is because they are relying on the duromine. But he told me he will work with me to keep it off he said he wants me to have 3 months on 1 month off.

  46. Lilmiss says:

What for the rest of ur life orrrr?

  47. Jasmine says:

    No just for 6 months

  48. Jasmine says:

Or close to my goal weight

  49. Lilmiss says:

    And what happens after that?

  50. Jasmine says:

Just still eating small portions & exercising to keep it off.

  51. Lilmiss says:

So why can’t you do that now to lose it?

  52. Jasmine says:

Because I need the help of the duromine

  53. Lilmiss says:

    K then

  54. Jasmine says:

I have an eating disorder, I need the duromine to help supress my appetite.

  55. Sarah says:

just do whats right for u and what you feel, its working for you so i say go for it, worked for me no probs, good luck. your going to get some good but mostly bad remarks bout duromine,

  56. Jasmine says:

Thankyou Sarah ill be making sure I dont put it back on or give up.

  57. Sarah says:

i have a lap band and it isnt that easy either, i can still eat almost anything but in sml portions of course, oh and ive used duromine with band to its helped at the times ive wanted a couple extra kgs gone, lol good luck

  58. Te says:

U may notice each dr has their favourite drug to prescribe and the main reason for their choice of drug mainly comes down to the perks they get from the manufacturer for distributing their medications and not necessarily based on how safe it is…….

  59. Cathe says:

Personally its only a quick fix once off it you gain the weight back ten fold the best way for weight loss is eating healthy and exercise and you also get the high of knowing you put in the hard work
