No cut tummy tuck
If there is loose skin the only way to correct it is to cut it out and this requires an incision. (Robert Brueck, MD, Fort Myers Plastic Surgeon)
All tummy tucks will require an incision which will develop into a scar. Usually the scar will fade within a year and if placed properly, will be located quite low and hidden in most underwear and swimwear. (William Bruno, MD, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon)
No cut tummy tuck / laser only
There’s no way to repair muscle laxity without suturing the muscle back together. Only a surgical procedure can do that. Most lasers can, at best, only achieve a very mild degree of skin tightening or shrinkage; far less than the skin tightening I can get with a good tummy tuck. So yes, overall, the no cut tummy tuck is “too good to be true”. (Thomas Fiala, MD, Orlando Plastic Surgeon)
No Cut Tummy Tuck Means Liposuction
The concept of ‘no cut’ and a ‘tummy tuck’ are incongruous. By definition, a tummy tuck is a surgical procedure that removes skin and fat and many times tightens the abdominal muscles. The technique used in a no cut tummy tuck is liposuction. While liposuction can be a very good tummy contouring technique for the right person, it will not produce the same result as that of a tummy tuck in someone who needs skin removed and muscles tightened. It is a liposuction marketing term not a real procedure that is a substitute for what a tummy tuck can do. (Barry L. Eppley, MD, DMD, Indianapolis Plastic Surgeon)
No cut tummy tuck
Clearly this is a marketing ploy intended to deceive patients into thinking that laser liposuction will tighten tissues just as a “real” tummy tuck would. All forms of liposuction result in essentially the same endpoint – you remove fat and rely on skin contraction to give a smooth result.
There is no proof that ultrasonic or laser liposuction will result in any better skin tightening than traditional liposuction. Liposuction does not allow any tightening of the muscle layer either. Liposuction, no matter which method, does not replace a tummy tuck if that is what is needed. Make sure that you understand exactly what your expected results will be. Do not be afraid to question claims that are being made by your surgeon. If you like what you hear and it makes sense to you, then go for it. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. (Jeffrey E. Kyllo, MD, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
A marketing tool
The market is loaded with devices that claim to reduce the abdominal fat and tighten the skin without having to have the surgical scar and has a shorter recovery time. But, the applications are very limited and the results can not be compared to the standard tummy tuck. I advise you to think twice before paying for such procedures. (Moneer Jaibaji, MD, San Diego Plastic Surgeon)
“No Cut Tummy Tuck” = a Sleeping Skunk (Don’t mess with it)
Along the adages of my youth – don’t kick a pasture patty – it may not be as dry as you think – don’t mess with a sleeping skunk If you want to get rid of loose skin, that skin must somehow be removed. The ONLY cosmetic way to remove skin is to cut it and hide the scar in a skin fold and or underwear. Lasering skin (or in plain English burning it). does not remove skin. The “No Cut Tummy Tuck” is a pasture patty – don’t kick it or step on it. You are being conned. (Peter A. Aldea, MD, Memphis Plastic Surgeon)
No Cut Tummy Tuck = No Results Tummy Tuck
There are many marketing techniques out there and no regulations about what people can say or do. In short, if you have loose skin, you need a traditional tummy tuck / abdominoplasty which requires an incision.
If you just have excess fat, but no loose skin, then you may be well served with some type of liposuction procedure. (David Shafer, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)
No-cut “tummy tuck” is like No-diet weight loss!
You know how that works out, don’t you? There is no external RF (radio frequency), infrared, ultrasonic, or laser procedure (or internal laser, ultrasonic, etc. operation) that can adequately tighten loose skin that requires a tummy tuck. If you don’t have loose skin, then these procedures “work” because they are not necessary! If you do have loose skin, you probably also have loose or stretched muscular fascia, and rectus sheath plication (commonly called “muscle repair”) is PART of a properly-performed tummy tuck procedure in the majority of cases.
How can THAT be done without an incision? (ANSWER: It can’t!) This is not even “Too good to be true!” This is marketing hogwash to get prospective patients to see these doctors so they can sell you on something else, or take your money for a lipo procedure that leaves you with all the loose skin you started with (plus a little scar tissue that changes things a bit, and not usually in a good way!) Go see this “surgeon” and then complain to the state medical board if applicable! But please don’t waste your money, time, or undergo unnecessary risk for this brand of snake oil! (Richard H. Tholen, MD, FACS, Minneapolis Plastic Surgeon)
I think you know the answer and can see through the marketing smoke and false claims. Beware of the claims that you see first in the advertisement than the scientific medical journals. (Kamran Khoobehi, MD, New Orleans Plastic Surgeon)
No cut tummy tuck does not exist
A tummy tuck is a term used to describe the procedure which tightens the abdominal muscles to correct ‘rectus diastasis’ and to remove loose skin often caused by childbearing, weight gain and weight loss. Beware of having liposuction to the abdomen for these problems. You will surely be disappointed. A no cut tummy tuck does not in actuality exist. Your gut feeling is correct.it’s too good to be true. (Louise Ferland, MD, Richmond Plastic Surgeon)
Yes another trademarked term for a laser lipo operation under local anesthesia by “MONARCH”surgery centers in Pa, De, Md. Nothing new and VERY VERY patient specific. Beware what you ask for. (Darryl J. Blinski, MD, Miami Plastic Surgeon)
If you have excess skin it may need to be removed and an icision is needed. In medicine, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Also if only one doctor does the procedure, it is usually not a good treatment. (William B. Rosenblatt, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)
Never heard of the ability to perform a tummy tuck with our making some kind of cut or incision. Certainly there are procedures to minimize scars but keep in mind that very few patients are good candidates for minimal tummy tuck surgery. Get other opinions. (Albert Dabbah, MD, Boca Raton Plastic Surgeon)
