Liposuction of flanks and a tummy tuck would provide the best outcome. The majority of my patients that get a tummy tuck also get liposuction of flanks. I charge a nominal fee for the additional liposuction, I believe these procedures together give the best contour for the lower abdomen and the trunk in patients similar to you.

It is best for patients to be at a BMI of 30 or less for surgeries- if one’s BMI is greater than 30, there is a greater risk for complications as well as limitation in results. It is important to our practice that we provide the best and safest patient outcomes. I do liposuction on almost all my tummy tucks, because along with removing all the loose skin and fixing the abdominal muscles, many patients have full flanks that look better contoured when liposuction is performed there.In your pictures, you seem to be one of the unique patients that may not need it. The only way to tell would be with an in person consultation. I hope that helps!

I would encourage you to wait at least 2 weeks before soaking in the bath. I always am concerned with allowing “dirty” water to sit next to a wound that is not fully healed. This is generally a rule I take with all my surgical incisions, including labiaplasty.I tell my patients that they can shower 2 days after surgery. I hope that helps!

For one week out, even though the picture is dark, it appears to be a normal healing scar. Sometimes a bit of crusting forms at this point. Just give it time, and make sure you stay in good contact with your surgeon.

You will have to have a consultation in person to discuss the positives and negatives of each. To get your best result as you described, you will require a tummy tuck with liposuction based on your pictures, but if scarring is a really big deal to you, then liposuction will give you some improvement.

This is almost always from the pain medication that you are taking and that you received during surgery. Definitely use a stool softener to get ahead of the constipation so you don’t have a problem going forward.
