Tummy tuck operations

I would completely recommend you tummy tuck operations if (and only if) you have decided not to have more children.

Having more children will not only disrupt your tummy tuck results, but normally having another complete tummy tuck operations would be really difficult because skin does not stretch all over again to the point of having enough to redo it completely (at least not with a very low scar, like I prefer to perform abdominoplasties.

Regarding the child’s safety, there is no scientific evidence that would show any harm to fetal development on patients that have had tummy tucks. Any other doubt, feel free to contact me. (Luis A. Fernandez Goico, MD, Dominican Republic Plastic Surgeon)

The tummy tuck operations

You can certainly have a tummy tuck and the photos suggest your are a good candidate. But have you finished having children? If not, can you wait? Having a baby after tummy tuck operations will just undo the repair – it’s not dangerous but ends up wasting your money. You can have a second tummy later however, if you think you’re having no more children at this point and later change your mind. (Elizabeth Morgan, MD, PhD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)

Would a tummy tuck operations be recommended for me at 21?

Thank you very much for your message and photograph. I think you would not be suitable for a full tummy tuck operations as you do not have much excess skin on your lower abdomen. A better option may be either a skin tightening procedure or a mini tummy tuck.

Tummy tuck operations before

Mini tummy tuck operations reduce the skin on your lower tummy and does not involve a scar around the tummy button. I think this would be a very good option for you and it has the benefit of minimal scarring and skin tightening.

For more information about what’s involved in this technique and to see videos of the surgery being performed it may be useful to have a look at our website.

Many thanks again for your question, I hope you are happy with the results of your surgery if you decide to proceed with this. (Adrian Richards, MD, London Plastic Surgeon)

I just operated on a 22 year old with two children who is not planning to have any more and really would have benefited from the surgery as will you as I can see from the photos. (Frederic H. Corbin, MD, Brea Plastic Surgeon)
