Tummy tuck in C-section patient
The C-section scar can be used as part of the tummy tuck incision so that it will be excised and replaced with the new scar. You appear to be a good candidate for a tummy tuck. I’d be happy to see you in consultation to discuss the procedure in detail. The abdominoplasty will remove the saggy skin and tighten your abdomen.
It is performed under general anesthesia in an ambulatory surgery facility. I generally advise patients to hold off on TTs until they have completed their families so, if this is the case, you should definitely begin the process of investigating the operation! (Robert L. Kraft, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)
C-section Scar and Tummy Tuck
Based on your photo, a tummy tuck incision would be a bit lower than your C-section scar and therefore your current scar would be removed. (Ronald V. DeMars, MD, Portland Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy Tuck and C-section scar
Your c-section scar can certainly be used as part of the tummy tuck incision. The incision is usually extended to each side for to accommodate the amount of excess skin laxity that needs to be excised. Not using the c-section scar and going above it has it’s own risk as the blood supply between the new and old scar will be compromised and at risk of having complications. (Young R. Cho, MD, PhD, Houston Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy tuck using c section scar
Based on description and photo I believe you are a good candidate for a tummy tuck. The location of the scar is usually low on the abdomen. In my practice I try to make my incision just below the c section scar in order to remove the c section scar and leave just one scar behnd. The length of the tummy tuck scar will usually be longer than the c section scar because the length of the tummy tuck scar is related to how much excess skin is present and how much skin is removed.
The tummy tuck procedure is designed to remove the excess skin, tighten the muscle layer which gets stretched with pregnancy, like the skin and I typically perform some liposuction with nearly every tummy tuck. I would recommend that you be at or near your ideal body weight before the procedure since it is not a weight losing procedure but a body contouring procedure. Thank you for your question and for the photos and best of luck. (Ralph R. Garramone, MD, Fort Myers Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy Tuck Incision in C-section Scar?
Based on the limited picture I think you should be able to have the tummy tuck incision placed in the previous C-section scar line.
Assuming you have completed having pregnancies and have achieved a long-term stable weight you may be an excellent candidate for tummy tuck surgery.
The tummy tuck procedure will serve to remove “excess” skin and adipose tissue and plicate (put back together) the abdominal wall muscles that spread when you were heavier.
Raising the pubic area may also be helpful. (Tom J. Pousti, MD, FACS, San Diego Plastic Surgeon)
Location and Placement of a Tummy Tuck Scar
The Tummy Tuck scar is placed within the confines of your favorite panties / bikini bottom so it stays hidden in social situations. We always strive to remove any previous C-section scars at the time of the tummy tuck. If you have completed your family, your weight is stable and you are prepared for a tummy tuck it would be a very good option for you. (Peter A. Aldea, MD, Memphis Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy tuck scar location
You look to have lots of extra abdominal skin and as such should be able to have a low TT scar. Even though the c-section scar can be removed, the final scar will actually be a little higher because it pulls up a bit when you stand up straight after the surgery. (Richard P. Rand, MD, FACS, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
