Tummy tuck vs exercise
Tummy Tuck or Even More Exercise?
You will definitely benefit from a tummy tuck. Your abdomen looks to be in great shape and exercise will not improve the skin situation.
Just be sure when you pick a surgeon that he uses the progressive advancement suture technique to maximize the amount of skin that can be removed. (Ronald V. DeMars, MD, Portland Plastic Surgeon)
You could have abdominoplasty
I agree with earlier answers, that is, you could have abdominoplasty. I am not sure that you would be able to have ALL of the skin from the umbilicus down to the mons pubis area removed unless you want a pretty high scar, so you will need to be prepared (all of this based on a photo only of course) to have not only a traditional abdominoplasty scar, but also possibly a vertical scar somewhere between your newly placed belly button and the “regular” abdominoplasty scar.
These issues should all be discussed with a board certified PS during a consultation. It doesn’t look like extra exercise (keep up the good work!) is going to solve your skin/muscle problems. (James E. Chappell, MD, Baltimore Plastic Surgeon)
Toned before tummy tuck
You are well toned if you can run the circuit five days a week, and your photos prove it. Further exercise will not improve the skin laxity, so you are ready for tummy tuck the way you are. (Peter E. Johnson, MD, Chicago Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy Tuck or Even More Exercise
As a father of twins, congratulations and thank you for the photos. You have done everything you possibly can to regain the abdomen you had before childbearing but no amount of exercise is going to regain the lost tone to your skin that has been stretched beyond its ability to recover.
This problem can be very well addressed with a full abdominoplasty which will remove the excess skin that is now both below and above the navel. On your lateral photo, you do have bulging/fullness that may indicate that the abdominal wall muscles have been separated.
This can be repaired at the same time as the skin removal. The incisions will be placed low on the abdomen and easily hidden by undergarments and swimwear, and also hidden around the navel.
Please obtain a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area who can develop a treatment plan that is best for you. From you photos, you should get a great result. (Herluf G. Lund, Jr, MD, Saint Louis Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy Tuck or Even More Exercise?
The way you asked the question makes me wonder if you really want surgery? The correct answer for you is a full tummy tuck with muscle repair. But you could do an extended mini tummy tuck and lipo of upper abdomen for a faster healing operation. More exercise will not get rid of the excess skin. (Darryl J. Blinski, MD, Miami Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy Tuck or Even More Exercise?
Great work getting back to excellent fitness. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can restore the lost skin elasticity. Your muscle tone has been restored, but not your skin tone. An abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) should give you an excellent result. This will rid you of the excess skin, and will also allow for some tightening of the abdominal wall.
I cannot tell without an in person exam, but I suspect the vertical abdominal muscles have been pulled apart and can be repositioned to improve your overall contour. The price of twins. (Jourdan Gottlieb, MD, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
