This is a 56-year-old female who was diagnosed with Right Lobular Breast Cancer two years prior to her initial consultation. She underwent lumpectomy, but when the margins could not be cleared, she ultimately resulted in undergoing bilateral mastectomies. Her cancer treatment also included chemotherapy and radiation. Before her mastectomy, she was a C-cup. When she came to Dr. Hunsicker seeking breast reconstruction options, she stated that she would be happy to have any volume at all in her reconstructed breasts—“even an A-cup” would be fine with her. At her initial visit, implant reconstruction was not an option due to the effects of radiation; instead, she was an excellent candidate for fat grafting surgery. Patient agreed to use the BRAVA device pre-operatively, and underwent four fat grafting surgeries. In the last surgery, Dr. Hunsicker placed smooth, round silicone cohesive gel implants bilaterally to produce the patient’s desired volume. Due to the healing properties of the stem cells inherent in the fat transfer, the Right (radiated) side also became softer and more supple over time, resulting in a more natural look and feel to the reconstruction. These After photos were taken at 1 year after the final surgery.
